Description
The Connolly Expansion Joint is a leave-in-place expansion joint system designed for slab-on-ground concrete applications, allowing continuous concrete pours while providing controlled movement between adjoining slab sections.
Manufactured from a roll-formed galvanised steel profile with 10mm cross-linked foam, the system creates a straight, consistent joint through the full depth of the slab. Its design ensures that load transfer occurs through the installed dowels, while allowing the adjoining concrete sections to expand and move independently.

The profile features pre-formed holes for use with Connolly Universal Dowel Sleeves, with the patented Twist-Fix system helping maintain accurate dowel alignment for unrestricted slab movement. The patented peg and wedge fixing system also allows the joint to be quickly positioned and accurately adjusted to the required slab height.

🔮ICR Pro Tip.
One of the biggest advantages of a continuous-pour expansion joint is that you don't necessarily have to stop the pour to create the joint. The Connolly system acts as both the joint former and leave-in-place formwork, allowing concrete to be placed on both sides while maintaining a precise joint line.
The part worth paying close attention to is the dowel alignment. Dowels need to transfer load between the two slabs while still allowing the slabs to move. That's why the Twist-Fix sleeve system matters — a poorly aligned dowel can restrict the very movement the expansion joint was installed to accommodate.
