Efflock is a high-performance, water-based, VOC-free liquid additive designed for the bulk impregnation of cement-based building materials. It works within the material to reduce water absorption and help protect against efflorescence, damp, salt attack and frost attack.
Unlike a conventional surface coating, Efflock creates a hydrophobic molecular structure within the pores of cured concrete without filling those pores, allowing the material to remain permeable to vapour while significantly reducing water absorption.
Key Features:
Additional barrier to waterproofing systems – helps promote drier, healthier wet areas
Helps provide efflorescence protection throughout tiling systems
Compatible with tile beds, tile adhesive and grout
Helps protect against picture framing and crypto-florescence in stone, brick and concrete
Helps prevent absorption of damp, salts and frost
Provides bulk impregnation throughout the concrete mass
Permeable to vapour
UV stable
Can improve curing
Good workability
No detrimental effect towards adhesion of paint, adhesives and other finishes, according to the technical data
Water-based and VOC-free
Suitable For:
Bathroom and wet-area tiling
Balconies, patios and stairs
Stone and concrete paving
Stonemasonry
Brickwork
Pool surrounds
Render
Tile screeds
Tile adhesives
Grouts
Cement slurries
Concrete and masonry applications
Mixing & Application:
For general cement-based applications where aggregates are dry, the technical data specifies; 1 part Efflock : 100 parts potable water.
The prepared gauging water is then added to the dry cement-based ingredients. Any additional water added to the mix must also contain Efflock. Thorough mixing is essential to achieve uniform dispersion.
For screed, the recommended approach is to add Efflock neat to the mixer at the specified rate and then add additional clean water to achieve the required consistency.
*We recommend referring to the technical data before use.
đź”®ICR Pro Tip.
Efflock isn't just another additive you throw into the mix—it is about controlling where water goes.
A big part of efflorescence control is stopping water from carrying dissolved salts through the cement-based system in the first place. Efflock's hydrophobic action reduces water absorption while still allowing vapour to escape.
