Description
Madewell Durabar™ Fibreglass Rebar (GFRP) provides a lightweight, corrosion-resistant alternative to conventional steel reinforcing bar. Manufactured from Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP), Durabar™ is designed for applications where corrosion resistance, low weight or electrical non-conductivity are important considerations.
Unlike traditional steel reinforcement, GFRP does not rust or corrode, making it particularly well suited to concrete structures exposed to moisture, salts and other corrosive environments. Its lightweight construction also makes handling, transport and installation easier on site.
GFRP is also non-conductive, providing advantages in electrically sensitive applications including certain infrastructure and rail projects.

Key Features:
13mm diameter GFRP reinforcement bar
5.8m standard length
Lightweight alternative to conventional steel rebar
Non-corrosive — will not rust like steel
Non-conductive
Easy to transport, handle and install
Suitable for harsh and corrosive environments
Ideal for applications where reducing reinforcement weight is beneficial
Durable alternative to conventional steel reinforcement

Suitable For:
Concrete slabs
Footings and foundations
Marine and coastal construction
Corrosive environments
Water and wastewater infrastructure
Civil infrastructure
Rail structures
Electrical and non-conductive applications
Concrete structures exposed to salts or moisture

🔮ICR Pro Tip.
GFRP is a different reinforcement material — not simply a lighter replacement for N12 steel. It has different mechanical properties, including a different modulus of elasticity and behavior under load, so substitution should always be based on the engineer's specification. If your project has been designed for GFRP, make sure you're using the specified GFRP bar size, spacing and installation details rather than converting it directly from a steel reinforcement schedule.
